Pool heater repair in Houston

Heaters that will not fire or will not hold temperature, diagnosed and put right.

Chapter 01

Why a heater quits in Houston

A pool heater sits idle through a long Gulf Coast summer, then gets asked to work hard the first cold snap of the year. That is when the quiet failures show up. The burner clicks and never lights. The unit fires, runs for a minute and shuts itself off. The pool sits ten degrees colder than the thermostat says it should be.

Most of those faults trace back to a short list. Water flow through the heater drops because the filter is loaded or a valve is half closed, and the safety switch does its job and stops the burn. Scale builds up inside the heat exchanger because the water chemistry ran out of balance. Humid air corrodes an igniter, a sensor lead or a terminal. Or a control board gives up after years of heat and damp.

How a heater gets diagnosed

We start with the things that cost nothing to check. Is the filter clean, are the valves open, is the pump moving the flow the heater needs to see. Then we watch a full start sequence from the first call for heat to the burner lighting, and read whatever fault the unit reports instead of guessing at a part.

From there it is testing, not swapping. The temperature sensor and the pressure or flow switch get checked against what they should read. The igniter, the gas or power supply, the wiring and the control board each get ruled in or out. We look inside at the heat exchanger for scale. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why it failed.

Then comes the part most people want to hear straight. Some heaters are well worth repairing. Others have a cracked exchanger or a failure that will come back, and a repair would just buy you a few months. We say which one yours is, even when the answer is a replacement, and you decide with the facts in front of you.

Chapter 03

Keeping the heater from failing again

A heater repaired without fixing its cause fails again. If scale was the problem, the water balance has to be brought back in line, or the new exchanger scales up the same way. If flow was the problem, the filter and the plumbing around it get sorted out, not only the heater.

Between visits, keep leaves and debris out of the heater cabinet, keep the filter clean, and never run the heater while the pump is off. If it starts short cycling, takes longer to heat than it used to, or throws a fault code again, that is the early warning.
