LED pool lighting and automation in Houston
LED lights plus a phone app for lighting, pumps, heaters and schedules.
Chapter 01
Dark pools, dead bulbs, and a tangle of timers
Older pools usually run on incandescent niche lights, and they fail in a pattern. A bulb burns out, the gasket behind the lens dries and lets water into the niche, and the fixture corrodes from inside. A pool that looked great at dusk the first summer is dark by the fifth.
The controls are the other half of it. A common backyard has a timer box for the pump, a separate switch for the lights, a heater that someone set once and nobody touches, and a panel by the back door that only one person understands. Pumps end up running all night because turning them off means walking out in the dark.
None of that is a lighting problem alone. It is an equipment problem that shows up as a pool you use less than you meant to.

LED fixtures and one app to run them
We replace tired niche lights with LED fixtures, checking the niche, the cord and the bonding and GFCI protection as we go, so the new light is not wired into an old fault. LEDs run cool, last far longer than a bulb, and can be set to white or to colour scenes. The pool at dusk, lit green with the house glowing behind it, is the effect people ask us for.
Automation puts the rest of the equipment on one controller. Lights, pump speeds, heater and valves connect to a single panel, and the phone app reaches it from the couch or from across town. You set schedules for filtration hours, a heating window before a weekend, and a light scene for evening, then adjust them whenever the weather changes.
The equipment under the controller matters as much as the app. We pair automation with energy-efficient pumps and filtration, where a variable-speed pump can run slowly for long hours and quickly only when the cleaner or a water feature needs it. That cuts the electric load and the noise at once.
Chapter 03
Reviewing schedules as the seasons turn
An automation system works best when it is revisited. Houston summers need longer filtration and more chlorine demand; winter needs shorter runs and freeze protection. Check your schedules when the seasons change, and ask us to walk through the settings if you would like a second set of eyes.
Signs you need service: a light that flickers or goes out on one side, a pump that runs when the schedule says off, an app that loses the controller after a router change, or a heater that fires when no one asked it to. Most of those trace to a loose connection or a setting, not a failed part.
